ICELAND
Helloooo, today I have a blog post ALL about my trip to Iceland!! I tried and failed to vlog the trip but if you want to see me trying popular Icelandic sweets and my attempt at vlogging, check it out here!
FRIDAY 29TH JANUARY 2016
After waking up incredibly early, we set off to Dublin Airport. Our flight was to Keflavik at 11;10, which I attempt doesn't sound early but we had to be at the airport for 9am, and to get to the airport, had to get a coach at 7am.
Anyway, we landed around 1;30/2pm and then once we had our luggage, we jumped on a Flybus coach, and set off towards our accommodation. When booking our airport transfers, we could choose what hotel we wanted dropped off at as well as just Reykjavik. We were staying at an apartment as part of Eric the Red Guesthouse. On our first night, we went on a Northern Lights tour with Reykjavik Excursions and although it was FREEZING, it was unreal. We saw the lights and it was amazing. They had also not run the tour in a week due to the weather so we were SO lucky. Our group had brought a range of camera's from DSLR's to GoPro's to try and capture the lights and I had brought my DSLR but also downloaded an app called Northern Lights Photo Taker. The app was the ONLY thing that could pick up the lights!! We had the perfect camera settings but we've NO clue what happened! Just watching the Northern Lights was insane but so glad we got some photos too!
Next, after getting some strawberries and doughnuts, we got ready for the Blue Lagoon. So the Blue Lagoon was literally the coolest place I have ever been to and I'm already trying to get back ASAP.

For dinner, we went to a restaurant called Vegamót, and it had the most amazing burgers and chips.
SATURDAY 30TH JANUARY 2016
First thing we did on the Saturday was to visit the Hallgrímskirkja church and we were able to go up to the top of it and see the sunrise over Reykjavik.
Sadly, it was soo steamy and windy when we went so it was difficult to see and to photograph but was still so enjoyable! When we got back, we went out for dinner to Café Sólon and while we were there, we tried classic Icelandic drink, Black Death.
We then went to visit the harbor and when we were walking back to the apartment, we popped into Subway so I could grab a sandwich for the next day.
SUNDAY 31ST JANUARY 2016
We woke up early and then hopped on the bus to the Golden Circle & Fontana Wellness. In the tour, we went to the Gullfoss waterfall, the Geysir geothermal area and the Thingvellir National Park (which is also where we saw the Northern Lights). We then went to the Fontana steam baths and saw how they make the bread. They basically dig a hole and put bread in and then collect it the next day. It's due to the geothermal ground (I think) and basically there's incredibly hot water under the ground and it bakes it (of course the bread is covered). The bread also tasted AMAZING, we honestly couldn't stop eating it.
MONDAY 1ST FEBRUARY 2016
Monday was full of travel, we got up at 3am, left for the airport at 3:30am. Our flight was at 6:20am and we were SUPPOSED to get off the plane in Dublin at 8;40am ish but due to the high winds, we weren't allowed to get off the plane for 3 hours. Once we managed to get off the plane, we then couldn't get our luggage due to the high winds, they couldn't take them off the plane so eventually we just left without our suitcases. We all got home a lot later than we expected but we got home safely so that's all that matters.
*UPDATE* I got my suitcase last night, 4/1/16.
Love this post, the photos are stunning!!
