Music You NEED To Listen To

So before I started this blog, I wanted it to be music based and that obviously hasn't happened so here we go, my first music post. Feel quite nervous now..

So I wasn't sure how to start but I just want to explain who I've been loving at the moment as in college, we have been planning radio shows and been listening to A LOT of music and I've fallen back in love with a lot of songs and artists that I had forgotten about. So enough rambling, this is it!

First artist I want to talk about is alt-J. Alt-J is an English band who I discovered through Spotify, heads up, a lot of these artists will be people I discovered through Spotify. They have two albums out, An Awesome Wave and This Is All Yours. I listen mostly to This Is All Yours but both are incredible. Joe Newman, who does lead vocals, has an incredible voice and it's almost hynoptic. Listening to their music immediately puts me in a good mood and there is such a variety in all of their songs, you are certain to find one you really like. My favourite songs are probably Every Other Freckle, Left Hand Free, Hunger Of The Pine and Pusher. I genuinely love all their music so it was hard to pick!

Next artist I want to discuss is Milky Chance! Milky Chance are a German duo and I discovered their album through Spotify again. They only have one album out, Sadnecessary, but I can't wait until they release more. They have a very unique style, folk music with influences of reggae and electronic. Down By The River and Stolen Dance would be their most well known songs and they are my favourite, along with Stunner and Running. Listening to their music puts you in such a good mood and makes you feel so peaceful, I don't know how to explain it, just listen to it.

Next up is an Irish musician, Hozier. Even though I don't think I can say his name right, I am still obsessed with his music. He has one album out, Hozier, and it is magical, I can't rave about it enough. I found out about him through my sister who has amazing music taste and always introduces me to new artists. I wasn't sure how to describe his genre of music but Google says he does a mix between indie rock, soul and blues. My favourite Hozier songs would have to be Take Me To Church, Angel Of Small Death And The Codeine Scene, Work Song and Like Real People Do. I'm probably forgetting some but I'm in love with the full album.

Next up is Half Moon Run. Again, discovered through Spotify and they're a Canadian indie rock band with just one album out, Dark Eyes. The track that first caught my attention was Full Circle and it's definitely one of my favourites.

I'm not sure how I've written less and less about each artist as this post goes on, but it doesn't mean that I like them any less. They are all such talented people and please check them out.

I know this next band is very well known and loved worldwide but in the last year I've really fallen in love with them and I want to write about them. If you've been living under a rock for the last 13 years and haven't heard about the Arctic Monkeys then stop reading this and go listen. They are now my most favourite band ever. They're an English rock band, who began in 2002 and are still taking over the world in 2015. They have five albums out, Whatever People Say I Am, That's What I'm Not, Favourite Worst Nightmare, Humbug, Suck It And See and AM. They just make me so happy and to pick favourite songs will be difficult but here we go.

From Whatever People Say I Am, That's What I'm Not, my favourites would be Dancing Shoes and From The Ritz To The Rubble. Favourite Worst Nightmare favourites would have to be Balaclava, Old Yellow Bricks and Do Me A Favour. It was a lot more difficult than I expected to pick those three. Cornerstone and Potion Approaching would be my favourite two from Humbug. Three favourites for Suck It And See and they are Don't Sit Down 'Cause I've Moved Your Chair, All My Own Stunts and Suck It And See. From AM, my favourites would have to be Knee Socks, Do I Wanna Know, Snap Out Of It and Why'd You Only Call Me When You're High?. AM was actually the first album I listened to and it was only after I became obsessed with it that I looked for the rest of the albums.
